Staying Overnight

Free accommodation is available only for genuine pilgrims who wish to attend the early morning (5 am) and other poojas. We are not a place for holiday makers.

Get the most out of your pilgrimage by staying overnight at Skanda Vale. During the busy summer months, you may need to book up to four weeks in advance, as we can get very busy. If we are full, then please download our list of approved local hotels and b&b's - there are some great places just a few minutes away.

If you would like to stay more than one night then you will be required to apply to the Swami's Council three weeks in advance. Please click here to find out more

We regret that we can no longer offer accommodation to anyone without a prior booking. Please book your room before you leave by calling us on 01559 384 421 between the hours of 9:30 - 13:00 and 14:30 - 17:00. If for any reason you have to cancel, please call us as soon as possible so that your room can be reallocated.

Some basic guidelines:

  • Accommodation is allocated on a first come, first served basis.

  • Unaccompanied ladies please seek prior advice in writing.

  • Children must be accompanied by their own parents at all times.

  • Accommodation is not available to anyone living within 25 miles of the Ashram.

  • Pilgrims who are staying with us are expected to stay within the Ashram grounds, during the duration of their stay and not to use Skanda Vale as a base from which to go sight-seeing.

  • If your group is larger than 10 please go to the group pilgrimage page

  • If you are in a group it is possible that you will be split up and have to share accommodation with other people of your own sex.

  • Devotees are requested to refrain from practising any type of therapy or healing whilst at Skanda Vale, rather they are encouraged to focus on developing their relationship with God.

  • Residents are required to attend all the poojas in the Subramanium Temple without exception (5 am, 1.30pm, 9pm). Long-term residents are also required to provide four hours work in the Ashram each day.

Whatever your length of stay you will need to bring with you:

  • Bedding - quilt, sheets, pillows, (mattresses are provided)

  • Warm, waterproof clothing and suitable walking shoes or trainers

  • Torch

  • Alarm clock

  • £1 coins for heating

If this is your first visit please download, print and bring with you the Map which you will find here on this website. Please do not rely on Road Atlases or GPS systems.
