Anyone who has a life-threatening or terminal illness.

No, anyone who is able to travel to the Hospice regardless of where
you live is very welcome.
Do I have to pay to come to the Day Care Centre?
No, nothing at all, absolutely everything we provide within the Day
Care Centre is completely free of charge. We have never charged for
any service that we offer and we never will.
Do I have to be religious to come to the Day Care Centre?
No! Of course not! Although we are monks and nuns we would never
impose our faith on anyone coming to the Day Care Centre
Why do we run a Day Care Centre?
Simply for the love of caring for people in need and the immense
sense of fulfillment it gives us.
Are we part of the NHS or any other organization?
No, we are a completely independent registered charity, dedicated to
serving all of life.
What is the history of our Service?
Skanda Vale, our monastic community, was established in 1973 near
Llanpumsaint (9 miles North of Carmarthen). Our Home Care Service
cared for hundreds of families from 1993 to 2004. Since March 2004
we have been caring for the terminally ill at our Day Care Centre at
Saron on the A484 approximately 15 miles from both Carmarthen and
Cardigan.
Where does the money come from to finance your Hospice?
Entirely from donations and fundraising activities. The majority of
donations come from the many thousands of pilgrims who visit Skanda
Vale for whom the Hospice is another example of the Community’s work
in serving humanity, also support from local people and our
fundraising activities like the annual fete, coastal path walk,
street and store collections, garden parties and coffee mornings
etc.
What is the money used for?
All the money is used to run and maintain our Day Care Centre and
will also be used to refurbish and develop the first floor of our
Hospice which will house the In-Care Residential Unit.
Is anyone paid within your organisation?
No! Everyone from the management and the care team to the
fundraisers and street collectors work on a completely voluntary
basis.
Are the Hospice Carers trained and experienced?
Yes. We ran a Home Care Service caring for the terminally ill
throughout the locality for 10 years. All our staff are fully
qualified in the relevant areas and everyone receives on-going
in-house training and assessment to ensure the quality of the
service we provide is excellent.
