Skanda Vale Hospice

Skanda Vale Hospice in Saron, near Llandysul. It’s about 9 miles from Skanda Vale Temples.
It’s a warm and homely place, staffed by our monks, nuns and local volunteers.
The quiet rural setting makes it a good place to relax.
The day-care centre dining room. A brand new in-care unit is now also being developed.
One of the rest rooms in the day-care centre. All the rooms are light, spacious and airy.
Our bathroom is well equipped so patients can have a soothing soak in complete comfort.
A good home-cooked meal is the cornerstone of the day-care experience.
Anyone with a life-threatening illness is welcome, and there is no charge for our services.
We offer reflexology, massage and aromatherapy. An art therapist also visits occasionally.
Love and laughter is definitely the best therapy!
We have no grants or loans. We rely on the generosity of our local community and pilgrims.
Visitors to Skanda Vale support our work via donations at the ashram tea and gift stall.
Sponsored events like the London 10k Run are essential to keep our service going.
You really do not have to be an athlete to take part. In fact, it’s much more fun if you aren’t!
Every year we do a sponsored walk along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Footpath.
It feels great to take part.
If you have an idea for a sponsored event, please give us a ring.
The hospice is a celebration of life. Patients and carers all benefit from being a part of it.

‘Where there is love, there is God’
Guru Sri Subramanium

Our Guru had a serious heart attack in 1987. During his stay in hospital he saw many people suffering and dying alone, often feeling frightened and confused. The hospital staff gave fantastic medical care, but didn’t have the time to offer as much one-to-one care, love and friendship as they would have liked. Guru decided to extend the work of Skanda Vale monastery to help provide this much needed service. The Hospice was opened in April 2004. It’s a warm and homely place where anyone with a life threatening illness can come and experience wonderful physical, emotional and spiritual care, all completely free of charge.

We currently offer one-to-one care, with delicious home cooked meals, assisted bathing, aromatherapy and reflexology. Our plan is to develop an in-care residential service in the not too distant future.

We are always looking for new volunteers to help at the Hospice, or join in on some of our exciting fundraising events. If you would like to know more, Visit the site – we’ll be glad to hear from you.
