‘Where there is love, there is God’ Guru Sri Subramanium
ur Guru had a serious heart attack in 1987. During his stay in hospital he saw many people suffering and dying alone, often feeling frightened and confused. The hospital staff gave fantastic medical care, but didn’t have the time to offer as much one-to-one care, love and friendship as they would have liked. Guru decided to extend the work of Skanda Vale monastery to help provide this much needed service. The Hospice was opened in April 2004. It’s a warm and homely place where anyone with a life threatening illness can come and experience wonderful physical, emotional and spiritual care, all completely free of charge.
We currently offer one-to-one care, with delicious home cooked meals, assisted bathing, aromatherapy and reflexology. Our plan is to develop an in-care residential service in the not too distant future.
We are always looking for new volunteers to help at the Hospice, or join in on some of our exciting fundraising events. If you would like to know more, Visit the site – we’ll be glad to hear from you.
